A small team, building the wedding software we wished we had.
Friendly Wedding is made in Sasaram, Bihar. We started after watching our own families chase 14 WhatsApp groups, three Excel sheets and two printed seating charts through a three-day celebration. There had to be a calmer way.
The story
In 2024, Vivek’s elder sister got married. Five events, four cities, 380 guests, three spreadsheets, and one increasingly frantic group chat. The seating chart was printed twice — once for the venue manager, once for the relative who insisted the business-class uncle could not sit at table 7.
We looked for a tool that understood any of this. Western RSVP apps treat a wedding as one event. Indian options were either clunky vendor portals or single-purpose seating tools. Nothing respected that an Indian wedding is many events, two families, three generations, and at least one tech-shy grandparent.
So we built Tanvrit. Multi-event from the first commit. Privacy non-negotiable from the first commit. Designed for the auntie who has never installed an app — and the groom who lives in Toronto and needs everything to also work offline on a flaky 3G venue network.
